Lauren Watkins has really laid her heart on her sleeve in new full-length project Introducing: The Heartbreak.

The six-song sequel from the Big Loud Records / Songs & Daughters artist comes after a run of hometown shows, The Heartbreak Supper Club and enlists the talents from writers Nicolle Galyon, Rodney Clawson, Jessie Jo Dillon, Ashley Monroe, Caroline Watkins, Will Bundy, Emily Landis, and Lauren Hungate, along with features from BFF Carter Faith and label mate Jake Worthington.

“I’m really lucky to write with people that I’ve looked up to for ever. Nicolle Galyon, Rodney Clawson… the Warren brothers are on this project and I’m so grateful for that,” Watkins tells Celeb Secrets Country host Juliet Schroder on the red carpet at the 2023 BMI Country Awards in Nashville earlier this month. “I also have some really cool features on the project like Carter Faith who is one of my best friends, and Jake Worthington who I am the biggest fan of. I’m ready for people to hear [these songs].

Produced by Joey Moi, Introducing: The Heartbreak serves as the next installment of the singer’s April debut, Introducing: Lauren Watkins and showcases Watkins’ flair as both an artist and songsmith.

“I’m just so proud of it,” Watkins gushes. “I feel like I’ve worked so hard and so long on writing these songs and made sure I had the right songs to go on the project.”

“These naturally felt like the next step from the first project I put out this year, which is Introducing Lauren Watkins, and now I’m introducing ‘the heartbreak,’ which is what all of these songs have been about,” she continues.

The collection’s opener, “Fine Country Line” acquaints listeners with the Nashville songwriter’s primal offerings and warmly welcomes the project’s following five tracks.

While “Jealous of Jane,” which was written with Caroline Watkins, Brad Warren and Brett Warren, is one of the two new songs released on Friday (November 17) and sees Watkins’ envying her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend but not wanting to rekindle her own flame with him.

She sings, “Why am I, wishing my hair was a little bit blonder? / Why am I, wishing my legs were a little bit longer? / I don’t want him or his last name / Hell, I’m the one that got away / So why am I, why am I still jealous of Jane?”

“Fly On The Wall” features Texas Country Music Awards Male Artist of the Year Jake Worthington and relishes in the same jealousy vein of “Jealous of Jane.” It knocks on the lows of a romantic relationship and the longing to want them.

Both “Jealous of Jane” and “Fly On The Wall” join the previously released “Stuck In My Ways” — a song about embracing her individuality and accepting her ways, and the refusal to make changes for somebody else — and “Cowboys On Music Row” with songwriting BFF Carter Faith.

Throughout the end of the year, Watkins will be on the road supporting Conner Smith, ahead of a monumental 2024 where she’ll debut at Stagecoach and support several stadium dates for labelmate Morgan Wallen.
