Songstress Ana Cristina Cash has laid her heart bare in her new song “Winter” with fellow musician Caitlin Evanson.

Initially penned for Tori Amos, the song — which is available for pre-save starting this Friday (November 17) — unveils the emotional consequences of passing time and the importance of cherishing memories.

Cash and Evanson collectively lend their vocals on the track overtop plucked guitar and harmonious strings. Delivering a spellbinding interpretation of this timeless composition, “Winter” stands as a heartfelt tribute to the enduring bonds of family and the inevitability of change.

“We were drawn to the song’s emotional depth and its poignant reflection on the fleeting nature of time. It reminds us to cherish every moment, as things will never be the same as they once were,” Cash says in a statement regarding its inspiration. “The song evokes imagery of a father and a daughter, from their youthful days creating memories in the snow to the future when the father is frail and aged. We recorded this song several months ago, but it took on a whole new meaning for me when my own father faced serious health complications this year. Music is a powerful means of expressing emotions, and ‘Winter’ is incredibly special to us.”

Today (November 14), the duo unveil a poignant music video which you can watch below. Shot at the historic Cash Cabin, the visual paints a perfect picture of the message both Cash and Evanson are trying to portray.

Celeb Secrets Country host Juliet Schroder caught up with Ana Cristina Cash at the 2023 SESAC Nashville Music Awards last Sunday (November 5) to discuss her impending projects, the significance of songwriting, and why the art is so special to her.

“The last year and a half has been very creative,” Cash says. “As a writer, I never like to force anything. I never say, ‘Oh, let’s get in the studio; let’s write the next hit, guys.’ Like, no. For me, it has to come organically, and it has to be fun. It has to mean something.”

Although “Winter” contains a lot of somber elements, don’t expect Cash’s upcoming full-length project to be the same way. In fact, it’s going to be completely opposite.

“My new record, I’ve been working on it for a year and a half, it’s very upbeat, and I said after COVID I just want something fun and not boring that people can enjoy. It’s a mix of several topics; of course, love is there, but it’s not a mournful record. It’s probably one of the happiest that I’ve done, and I’ve been writing with a lot of music row songwriters,” she reveals.

On what inspires her content?

”The beach,” Cash told Schroder. “Alcohol? Love? There are definitely tales about being scorned. Definitely empowerment, I really wanna do something for the ladies as well, but it’s really about fun. I didn’t wanna do something tragic. My goal was not to make something sad. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
