It’s a year of firsts for Lily Rose.
Just last month, the budding country songstress made history as the first country artist to take home the Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist for GLAAD. Yesterday, she had her very first on stage performance at the 2022 CMA Music Festival, and tonight (June 10) she’s hitting the biggest stage of them all — Nissan Stadium.
“[It’s] a dream come true, a huge bucket list moment,” Rose told Celeb Secrets Country reporter Blakely McHugh backstage at CMA Fest. “Not to mention the opportunity to play at Nissan [Stadium], I don’t think I’ve wrapped my head around it.”
Rose has been attending the four-day event ever since she moved to Nashville, TN in 2017, however, this year marks the first time the “Stronger Than I Am” singer will be both attending and performing as an artist.
“Everyone on my team keeps telling me this is going to be a long weekend of work, but this is the best job in the world,” Lily said.
By the time Sunday rolls around, Rose will have performed every single day at four different stages. Fans who attended her performance at the Chevy Vibes Stage on Thursday (June 9) got a special performance of Rose’s new single, “I’d Be You,” that’s officially on all streaming platforms today (June 10).
“I heard [the song] before I even signed to Big Loud. Somehow I heard the demo and another artist had it on hold and we somehow finagled it.”
The track, which has been two years in the making, marks her first release since her Oct. 2021 debut project Stronger Than I Am. It follows the perspective of an ex who realizes they could have done better in the relationship. Once that realization hits though, it’s too late because the other person has already moved on.
Written by Hillary Lindsey, Mark Holman, Morgan Wallen and HARDY, Rose said it spoke to her in a way other songs haven’t.
“I’ve loved ‘I’d Be You’ since I first heard it back in 2020. The journey this song and I have been on is long, compared to most, and I only love it more every time I hear it,” Rose said in a statement. “The songwriters wrote a story I haven’t heard before in a way that sucked me right in – and Joey Moi sent the production through the roof!”
We know the singer/songwriter’s love life is much less complicated than this song. She’s getting married in the spring of next year, and is currently in the midst of planning the wedding.
“We’re in the thick of wedding planning right now and I’m about to start touring a lot during the summer,” Rose shared. “To try and plan a wedding while touring is not easy but it’s fun.”
Up next, the Atlanta, GA native will hit the road beginning July 20 to kick off her own headlining tour, traveling all across the country, including Canada. And you bet she’ll be playing the new track.
“[I’m most excited] to see the fans. It’s been the coolest thing after working so hard to get to this place in my career to finally have people that really really care about my music and my art,” she said.
