We’ve seen so many females shine in country music this year, and Lauren Alaina is most certainly one of them. The world was introduced to this powerhouse on American Idol in 2010, and even though she was the runner-up that season, this girl’s infectious spirit and complete determination brought her to where she is today.
Since her time on Idol, the 24-year-old singer opened up for some pretty incredible country music artists like Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson, and Blake Shelton, but believe it or not, she’s never headlined her own tour… until this year, that is.
Last month via video message, Lauren announced that she will be embarking on the That Girl Was Me tour this fall, which she describes to Celeb Secrets Country as “the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to her.”
“I’ve never been more excited for anything in my entire life,” Alaina said to our reporters at Craig Campbell’s Celebrity Cornhole Challenge in Nashville earlier this month. “We went on sale and Nashville sold out in eight minutes. We had to add another Nashville show and it’s unbelievable.”
The That Girl Was Me Tour kicks off in Columbia, MO on September 14 and will hit additional markets including Boston, New York, Atlanta and Nashville. Joining Lauren on tour is new artist Filmore who just released his debut single “Slower” to country radio. The Missouri native has tallied over 50M on-demand streams and has previously opened shows for Sam Hunt, Brett Young, Carrie Underwood and Jon Pardi.
“I’ve done a lot of things and I want to put together a show that showcases all of those things put together,” she continued.
In addition to her tour, Alaina also touched on the music video for her current hit “Ladies in the 90s.” Released last month, the nostalgic video was directed by Ben Skipworth and features Lauren as a QVC host highlighting staple products from the decade such as slap bracelets and butterfly hair clips.
“‘Ladies in the 90s’ is such a fun song and I wanted to showcase my personality [in the video],” she said. “‘Road Less Traveled’ video was pretty serious, ‘Doin’ Fine’ was more serious and kind of a beauty piece, and I just wanted this one to be fun.”
