Since releasing their EP Game On, the guys put out a brand new single “Good Together,” which they say was a “unanimous decision” when it came to choosing it.
“I think [Game On] was one of those songs where it was like a unanimous decision once we heard the demo,” front-runner James Barker told us exclusively. “It’s a song I wrote with a couple of guys we always write with; Travis Wood and Gavin Slate. As soon as we heard the demo, we were like, ‘Man this song just sounds big. It sounds like a stadium song.’ We all fell in love with it so it was like a no brainer.”
The Canadian-based quartet performed “Game On,” as well as their other hits such as “Chills” and “Lawn Chair Crazy” at the Chevy Breakout Stage during the 2018 CMA Music Festival last month, and band member Taylor Abram said the whole experience was absolutely “surreal.”
“It feels surreal to have people singing along to our songs,” he shared with us. “We were the band that for years and years were playing bar gigs and cover sets for hours. To get on stage and see people get energized and dance when they hear a song is just one of the coolest moments.”
Fans can expect to hear more music from the James Barker Band real soon, as Barker says the songs can come out as soon as later this summer.
“We’ve got a bunch of stuff coming. I just spent a month writing in Nashville, and we’ve got a pretty good basket of songs right now,” Barker said. “I’m thinking probably like late summer/early fall you’ll have something to listen to.”
