This week has been a HUGE one for our girl Lindsay Ell!
The country songstress unveiled the music video for her current single “Criminal” on Saturday (April 7) to learn only two days later that the song has earned the top spot at both Mediabase and BDS Canadian country radio.
“I am humbled and grateful to be the first female artist to have a #1 since 2008 on the Canadian country radio charts,” commented Ell. “Sometimes you work so hard for the things you want, they feel surreal when they happen. Thank you country radio for believing in me and making this possible. Thank you to each and every fan for never giving up on me. I will try my best to continue to make you proud.”
I’m currently sitting here. Still without a voice that I lost last night. Have been traveling a little too much over the past few weeks. As of this morning, I have my first #1 ever…on Canadian country radio. It’s the first time a solo female artist has had a number one since 2008. Thank you country radio…..thank you to all of you guys for never giving up on me. 🙏🏼 Set your eyes on what you want to do in life and don’t let yourself look anywhere else. Determination and hard work pay off in the end. Maybe not when/how you think, but they do. Thank you #Canada!! 🇨🇦💙 #grateful
The success of “Criminal” makes her the first Canadian female artist to hit No. 1 on the Canadian Country airplay charts since 2008, a historic moment and celebration that has been years in the making. The single was the Most Added song at U.S. Country Radio on its impact date and continues to rise on the charts, fast-approaching Top 20 at on both Mediabase and Billboard Country Airplay (No. 21 on both charts).
