On Friday, (March 16), country princess RaeLynn put out her new single “Queens Don’t,” and the message behind it is SO inspiring.
The country tune is an instant earworm, encouraging RaeLynn’s fans — and everyone around the world — to know that they have worth and deserve the best in life no matter who you are or where you come from.
“With [Queens Don’t], I want people to see queen as an attitude, rather than being a woman. I want everyone to always have the attitude of being a queen or a king and know that they’re worth something more,” RaeLynn told CS Country over the phone hours after the song was released.
The song is a special one for the Warner Music Nashville recording artist, as she made the chorus personal, with the rest of the lyrics as universal as possible so people could really fit their story into the track.
“At first I thought I was going to write [Queens Don’t] about a relationship, but just everything happening in the world and always speaking your truth and women just really standing up for what they believe in,” the blonde beauty shared. “With all this going on, I know I’ve seen a lot and that all comes from growing. If there’s a friend that doesn’t kind of work, I’m just not going to be friends with them anymore. I not going to fight, I’m not going to hate, or be associated with people who aren’t nice or don’t see people’s around me worth. I think that’s what I wanted this song to be – for everyone to see the worth in themselves and to know they don’t have to stand for the things they don’t believe in.”
She continued, “Writing this song, I was thinking of everything I stand up for – I stand up for people who love me, you know? If I don’t agree with someone, I’m not going to hate on them, I’m not going to fight with them, we’re just not on the same page. If someone doesn’t see my worth as a person or they keep treating me bad, maybe I shouldn’t have that person in my life. I think everyone goes through a period when they’re younger, that they want to please everyone and now I’m in a place where it’s not about pleasing other people, it’s about know what people you want around you. I found that with my husband – he’s the best person in the world. I grew up in a small town, I had big dreams, but I made something of what I had. That’s another thing I want people to see in this song, you don’t have to have a lot, everybody should be treated like royalty no matter what your circumstance is.”
“Queens Don’t” also the first taste of the “Wildhorse” singer’s sophomore release that will be out later this year. “With this second record I want to be more vulnerable than I was in the first record,” she said. “I think that’s super important to be super transparent with your fans. I’ve learned a lot in these last couple years and I’ve put all that into this record.”
Up next, RaeLynn will head to Las Vegas for the 53rd Academy of Country Music Awards next month, as she’s nominated for New Female Vocalist of the Year along with Lauren Alaina, Carly Pearce, and Danielle Bradbery.
“[Winning] would just show a lot of hard work paying off, not for me, but for other people to see hard work paying off is better than anything and I think that’s what it would get for me,” RaeLynn told us. “Honestly, I’d love to win, don’t get me wrong but if it went to Lauren, Carly or Danielle, I would be just as excited! Because they all deserve it. I wish it could be like Mean Girls and we could all split it up into 4 pieces, you know?”
