The Platinum-selling recording artist and country music star will hit the stage at NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon just two days later on August 9 at 11:35 p.m. / 10:35c. Eldredge will perform “The Long Way” from his brand new self-titled album, available in stores and digitally this Friday.
The chart-topping singer / songwriter has offered a taste of the album in the weeks leading up to its launch by revealing songs including “Love Someone,” “The Long Way,” “Castaway” and “No Stopping You” in addition to Top 20 single “Somethin’ I’m Good At.”
In anticipation of the forthcoming record, Eldredge explores the meaning behind some of his yet-to-be-released tracks. The song “Cycles” (Eldredge, Matt Rogers) departs momentarily from his signature feel-good songs about love and takes a look at relationships with a realistic eye.
“Cycles was one of the hardest songs I’ve ever written,” Eldredge explains. “It’s very continuous – I mean, literally, it’s in a cycle of how the lyric goes, but it’s all about a relationship where you’re falling in love and you’re falling out of love. [When] they come back and they show up at your door again, how do you say no to that person? You love them but you know it’s never going to work out. It’s a vicious cycle and you can’t stop it.”
The entertainer’s upbeat personality resurfaces in the crowd-pleasing “Superhero,” a high-energy tune that explains just the kind of person every guy wants to be for his girl. Says Eldredge of the song he co-wrote with Ross Copperman and Heather Morgan: “I love the thought of being a superhero. I love the story of someone coming in and saving the day. I was always so envious of Superman, because I want to be that guy. I think that’s why Superman was so popular. We all picture ourselves as that nerdy guy who can go hop in a telephone booth and change into a superhero and save the day and win the girl over.”
Fans can watch Eldredge kick off his live shows with “Superhero” as he continues on the road for Luke Bryan’s “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” tour.
