Hey, Celeb Secrets Country readers!

Editor Juliet here. Earlier this week, I flew out to Nashville to cover the 2016 CMT Music Awards with our other editor Jozie and let me tell you… IT. WAS. CRAZY!! Keep reading below to learn about my day at the loudest award show in country music below.

Around 6:30PM, we arrived to the Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville. We picked up our tickets at Will Call and then headed to our seats. Everyone was dressed in their finest clothes and ready to see if Carrie Underwood would keep her title for “Video of the Year.” Check out this selfie of us in our seats!

CMT AWARDS

As soon as the clock struck 7PM, the show began. This year, the show kicked off with three mega performances. Keith Urban and tour mates Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris performed “Wasted Time,” followed by Billy Ray Cyrus and Cheap Trick with a mash-up of “Don’t Be Cruel,” a nod to his starring role on Still The King, and “Surrender” right in the heart of Nashville’s downtown, overflowing with fans on the streets and rooftops. The party was then moved inside when international sensation Pitbull put on a one-time-only performance of his hit “Messin’ Around” with female powerhouses Leona Lewis and Cassadee Pope.

We are HUGE fans of all types of music, so we were super pumped when we then saw Fifth Harmony perform “Mayday” with Cam and their smash hit “Work From Home” for the crowd. The collaborations didn’t stop there, though. Little Big Town and Pharrell Williams performed “One Dance,” Blake Shelton and The Oak Ridge Boys performed “Doing It To A Country Song”/“Elvira,” and Dierks Bentley and Elle King (“Different For Girls”) — talk about a night to remember!

A huge moment for us and pretty much everyone in the audience was the winner for Video of the Year. For the first time in eight years, the winner was NOT Carrie Underwood 🙁

While we were really sad Carrie didn’t keep her winning streak, we were extremely happy for Tim McGraw who snagged the buckle for his song “Humble and Kind.” To see a complete list of winners, click here.

After the show was over, we stayed Downtown to do what everyone does best in Nashville — party! To see what went down at Warner Nashville’s after party, click here.
